3 elements of a good headshot photographer

A first-rate Headshot Photographer in my experience will always include 3 essential elements. If you want to be known as a good headshot photographer in the Los Angeles area, here are 3 elements to get you pointed in the right direction.

1. A Good Headshot Photographer has Passion & Compassion

How much do you love what you do? How hard are you willing to work to achieve the best headshots for the actor/actress in front of you? You have to make a living but is the reward greater than the dollars you will make?

I have been very fortunate to do what I love for a living and after all these years I still remind myself of this every day. I’ve created an environment that I love working in. Over the years I have done my best to maximize the options available here to create versatile photo sessions. When it comes to lighting, backgrounds, then feel/vibe of an image, I can accommodate all with experience. Yes, I am picky about the outcome of our headshots. I would want my photographer to be as picky as I am with the result.

2. A Good Headshot Photographer Finds Reward in the Client’s Success

The look, stare, the openness, and the closeness from someone’s heart expressed through their eyes, being part of the whole experience is the reward. The courage it takes for anyone to show who they are in front of the camera is worthy of the same openness on my part. How gratifying it is when I get a phone call from my client who says they had an amazing experience here and that their headshots are getting them through doors that had not been possible going through before.

If my images are contributing to opening doors for you, that in itself is my reward. My clients tell me that everyone around them, agents, managers, friends & colleagues are complimenting them on their great new headshot is my reward.

3. A Good Headshot Photographer Provides Affordable Headshots

I have great pride in the work that I do here but that doesn’t mean I should only cater to people with a lot of money. I always remind myself of my humble beginnings, so I want to offer affordable headshot sessions and I should be affordable so I can reach every demographic and share what I do with not only a few privileged individuals. It also allows actors to come back more often and try something new in their headshots such as hair changes, color, length, style, facial hair, then wardrobe options, different makeup, an agent or manager’s request for something specific… Etc.. So the price of your headshot session shouldn’t be an obstacle to move forward with any of these changes. We move forward together.
